I agree with the article about how a degree now a days is just as much of a right of passage as getting your driver's license. I also agree when they say that the degree's are watered down. For instance, my brother wanted to become a police officer and in order to do so the police academy that he wanted to apply for said that he must atleast obtain an asociates degree in something. That was four years ago. My friend now a senior in highschool who wants to do the same thing and work on the same police force was suggested to get a bacelors in sociology and minor in criminal justice. This just shows how watered down they are. They are going to have the same job however, one must go for a longer period of time due to the fact that so many people are now going to college. I also agree when they stated work experience is a way to stand out. As a future teacher I know I must make my self stand out. Therefore, I work two jobs one as a camp counselor and another as a secretary/substitute at a before/aftercare. I also volunteered at the NJ Special Olympics last summer. I am going to keep doing these three things inorder to have experience with children in all different atmospheres.
Should More People Skip College?
I agree with this article to an extent. I agree that not all jobs need a college degree however in todays society you are basically forced in to getting one. With out a degree it is harder for you to get a job.
